Case-ready meats appeal to consumers ordering groceries online

Consumers still love shopping the fresh perimeter departments of their brick-and-mortar local grocery store, but many don’t want to take more time than they absolutely have to. That’s just one of the many factors that explains the continued steady growth in case-ready meat and poultry products.

Thin Sliced Meats are a relatively new case-ready product for Cargill, said Hannah Kern, senior marketing manager.

“They offer a lot to a consumer – versatility in usage, quicker cook-time, lower unit retail in this price-sensitive environment not to mention a huge labor-savings solution to a pain point back-of-house.”

When it comes to trends, freezer-ready and longer shelf-life packaging like rollstock are two Cargill is keeping a close eye on, Kern said.
