Ingredients
-
1 lb Steak, sliced thin
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 1 large bell pepper (any color), thinly sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 slices provolone cheese
- 4 hoagie rolls or sandwich buns, lightly toasted
- Optional: Dijon mustard or mayonnaise for spreading
Directions
Season the thinly sliced steak with salt and pepper on both sides.
Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the seasoned steak slices in a single layer. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or to your desired level of doneness. Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add another 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Add the thinly sliced onions and bell peppers. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the vegetables are softened and lightly caramelized.
- Add minced garlic to the skillet with the onions and peppers, and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Assemble the sandwiches: Place a slice of provolone cheese on the bottom half of each lightly toasted hoagie roll or sandwich bun.
Divide the cooked steak slices evenly among the sandwiches, layering them on top of the cheese.
- Spoon the sautéed onions and peppers over the steak.
- Optionally, spread Dijon mustard or mayonnaise on the top half of each bun before placing it on top of the sandwich.
Serve the steak sandwiches hot and enjoy the delicious combination of flavors and textures!
